Open House Etiquette
Things you should and should not do at an open house
First of all
please
be respectful!
It is a good idea to park on the street and not in the driveway
Please remember to either wipe your feet or remove your shoes before enter the house. It is a good idea that if you are wearing high heels that you remove them as they might dent or scratch the flooring
Either knock or announce your entrance into the home. The door will either be unlocked or the door might even be open
If requested, please sign the guest book, with your correct information. If you really don't want to be contacted simply tell the agent that you would rather not be contacted. They are okay with it and would rather you be upfront and honest than say nothing and be put out when they follow up with you after the open house
It is a good idea not to look inside people's personal property like drawers, chests, jewelery boxes...
You are more than welcome to look inside of the closets, cupboards, and in the garage but don't go through items. Keep in mind that these items are not part of the house and are personal property and you would not like it if people were doing it to you
Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking while viewing the home
Please keep an eye on little ones and don't let them run around the home, jump on the beds, pick up items that belong to the homeowner
Use the restroom before previewing homes
